Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document everything photography right here! From minis and pricing to props and ideas...all my random thoughts in one spot!

I'm always excited to do a Senior Session, but this one in particular was a bit more special. First of all, I did Allana's sister's Senior Session and when people come back, it makes me really really happy! Secondly, I'm trying to break out of my box and go to different places that I haven't shot before. It takes me a little out of my comfort zone not knowing where the best light is, where the great little spots are, or even what's around the corner.

Allana wanted a more urban feel for her shoot, so on the recommendation from another photographer friend (thanks Lauren!), I suggested Roosevelt Row. This little area is an interesting mix of up-and-coming cafes and modern luxury condos that clash with the abandoned buildings covered in graffiti and street art.  There are sculptures and murals at every turn, so we took a little walk around the block.

On our urban safari we had a chance to chat, and Allana mentioned, that after visiting the campus of the college she's heading to (a year early, wow!), that she was interested in Cardiology. Well, right after that, we saw this heart mural, so even though the sun decided to be in the worst possible position, we had to take a few snaps!

We didn't end up using any props, but we definitely didn't need to add anything to this session. Since Allana's also a bit of a yogi, we found some cool spots for her to strike some yoga poses.

Another thing I really loved was how easy-going it was to shoot with Allana, she was up for anything, and was my model for a weird idea I had about some "fence art" I envisioned. I think it came out pretty neat, but it was definitely a learning experience. (*I actually posted it in a forum I'm in for editors and got a TON of great feedback...it had over 100 likes in 10 minutes!).

I'm so glad that they're working on revitalizing this area, but I know that it will probably become another spot where I'm fighting other photographers for real estate on the weekends. Hopefully they keep these buildings looking the way they do!

Of course, I can't ever do a shoot where my subject's not in a tree, or climbing a mountain! I loved the different feel of this shoot from all the other's I've done, but I had to sneak a more "nature-y" pic in as well, even if we were downtown.

Allana, I hope you love your session as much as I did, and I'll get you your proof gallery very soon! Congrats on graduation!
