Quintessential Desert Shoot
I was so excited to get some mid-westerners for clients this past week! When Stacey contacted me wanting a desert shoot, I immediately suggested Tonto Park. Not only is it close to home, it’s got everything “desert”: cacti, mountains, green shrubby spots, remnants of wildfires, the Salt River, and wildlife. The Salt River Horses were kind enough to photobomb us!
Even though I’ve shot here numerous times, I found a couple of cool new nooks tucked close to the parking lot, so I was very excited! I love a view, and this one with the Salt River AND Four Peaks in the backdrop made my day!
These guys made my job so easy! They showed up in beautiful coordinating outfits with the best colors; I love Hunter Green in the desert (insert heart emoji here), and they were down for anything! The kids were definitely good sports about kicking off their shoes and getting in the water. :) It was pretty cold!
We went to two separate locations within Tonto, and I love that the park has so many terrains. Even though some photographers avoid the summer heat like the plague, I love heading out to shoot on location, any time of year. I’m glad that the monsoon rains came in the morning, and everything was dried off by the evening when we went out.
There are plenty of green spots along the Salt River’s edge, and you can even make it look like you’re out in the woods instead of out in the Arizona desert.
So glad this lovely family was willing to brave the heat, and get their family pictures done while on vacation. I hope you guys enjoy your time in AZ and that you love your photos!
